No is Also Yes: The Power of Choosing You
By Leslie Sann
Saying yes and no clearly builds confidence and rids us of the misconception that we are powerless.~ Marsha Sinetar
There is power in the word no. It is a way to clear clutter and make room for what matters. Saying no is also saying yes—you are saying yes to you. No is a secret ingredient to creating a life you love.
Saying yes to you means putting in the effort to make your dreams a reality. It’s about saying no to anything that keeps you from doing so. This change requires you to adjust your actions to match your new choices. This may involve letting go of old habits and finding fresh ways to approach your day-to-day activities.
How can you do that?
Say No: You are saying no to the thoughts, behaviors, and actions that get in your way. This supports breaking old habits and designing new ones that support who you are and what you are creating.
Discover Your True Creative Power: Saying no to distractions and habits that don’t serve your goals unleashes your creative power.
Make it Fun: Reinvent your daily routine. Instead of getting stuck in old habits, do something different. For example, swap your morning PJ lounge for walking in the grass barefoot while doing a gentle workout session that awakens you to the day. Enjoy the new experience. Yum.
Play the “What If” Game: What if I could switch one old habit for a new one? Instead of the post-work screen time, you may choose a 30-minute meditation that nourishes your spiritual connection. Make it a game to see what small changes can make a big difference. What are you willing to say no to? What are you saying yes to?
Celebrate Your Wins: Every time you say no to an old habit and yes to a new one, it’s worth celebrating. Give yourself a round of applause and take a bow! Feel the joy of your accomplishment. Celebrating small successes motivates us to keep doing what works.
You Are On Your Way: Each time you say no to an old habit and yes to a new one, you’re creating a life you love.
Do you see the secret? Saying No is also Yes. You are saying yes to you.
How does it get any better than that?
